Tango Asana

Cross-training helps everybody get better faster.  Here are some things Tango for One has taught me about Yoga for Two.

Adho Mukha Svanasana

Downward Facing Dog

head—sacrum feels pulled, head falling, sacrum hanging, feel the energetic line, feel the part in the middle

triceps energetic spiral to straight hands, duplicate in hips and thighs to straight feet for tango

arms and chest open out

your thighs kill until you feel the energy of the ground rushing up and supporting you

Lotus Mudra

out of all this crap, a beautiful flower reaching to the heavens

Chin Mudra

align your will with that of the gods

has a containing feeling

makes a hand not in chin mudra really feel energy sending itself through and out the hand

good for embrace

Mula Bandha

pull up your pelvic floor and root chakra, feel breath doing it for you

Savasana

accepting and being present with whatever's going through you

Pranayama

breathe deeply and freely into and through your core

Ujjayi

movement flows from breath

flowing dance, not static poses

Drishti

a calm point of focus—in tango, internal, not literal like in yoga
